Relax with the rhythmic, calming motions of knitting. For your first project, choose a hat, scarf, dish cloth, or a pair of mittens. If you already have a few skills, we’ll help you advance.

The Learn to Crochet beginner class series will teach you the basic stitches and techniques you need to know to crochet a facecloth or dishcloth. After completing this 3-session class, you will be well on your way to crocheting beautiful accessories or blankets.

Enjoy a month of weaving. Instruction covers everything you need to know about basic drafts, design, and the successful warping and weaving of your project. Instruction is individualized and responsive to the experience and interest of the student. Choose to learn on a beautiful floor or simple table loom.

Have you ever wondered how those gorgeous “handspun” yarns were created? Design your own custom yarn. Enjoy blending colors and textures of wonderful fibers. We will start with sheep fleece. Learn to wash, card and blend with silk and cashmere or yak…spin your unique blend into amazing handspun yarns.

Thursdays, April 6, 13, 20 10:00 am to 11:00 am Skill Level: Beginner
Choose to learn traditional crochet, using a crochet hook to make consecutive loops, working one loop at a time. Or learn Tunisian crochet (also known as Afghan crochet), which uses an elongated hook that allows you to keep several stitches on the hook, like in knitting. After completing this 3-session class, you will be well on your way to crocheting beautiful accessories or blankets.

Navajo and Tapestry Weaving: $98 class with yarn purchase. Includes use of loom.

In Navajo and Tapestry weaving, the warp is completely hidden allowing for your creative designs to be displayed. This weaving style has a long and rich history. The word tapestry comes from the Old French tapisserie, meaning “to cover with heavy fabric, to carpet”. Tapestries have been used since at least Hellenistic times. Navajo textiles typically have strong geometric patterns. In this class, we will learn tapestry weaving techniques, including knotted tassels, soumak, pick and pick, hatching, and interlock. Experiment with color, texture, and fiber. A variety of loom sizes are available for purchase.

Wet felting uses the application of warm, soapy water and agitation to make wool and other fibers into the fabric known as felt. Have fun, get messy, and create a Magical Watercolor Felted project.

Friday, April 7 11:00 am to 3:00 pm Open to all spinners — new or experienced.
What could be better than spinning with friends? Bring your spinning wheel, and fibers. Stay for the afternoon, and enjoy the fun and comradery with fellow spinners!
