Now is the time to learn to weave! Instruction covers everything you need to know about basic drafts, design, and the successful warping and weaving of your project. Learn what you need to know for a lifetime of weaving. Instruction is individualized and responsive to the experience and interest of the student. Choose to learn on a floor or table loom.

Learn to wash, card and blend with silk and cashmere or yak…spin your unique blend into amazing handspun yarns.

Learn the principles of wet felting and create a cozy home for your feline companion. Class will be held over two sessions on Wednesday mornings.
Tablet Weaving on an Inkle Loom: $210 class includes inkle loom and 25 cards.
Card (or tablet) weaving is one of the oldest and most versatile textile techniques. Its history can be traced back to the eighth century BCE in early Iron Age Europe. Traces have also been found throughout India and the Middle East. This technique uses cards to create the shed through which the weft is passed. In this class, we will use cards to weave colorful strips on an inkle loom. Use this technique to weave belts, dog collars, necklaces, and other narrow accessories.

The Learn to Crochet beginner class series will teach you the basic stitches and techniques you need to know to crochet a soft facecloth. After completing this 3-session class, you will be well on your way to crocheting beautiful accessories or blankets.
Navajo Weaving: $98 class with yarn purchase. Includes use of loom.
In Navajo Weaving, as in other tapestry weaving, the warp is completely hidden. Navajo textiles typically have strong geometric patterns. We will learn traditional techniques for creating typical Navajo patterns and colors.
Watercolor Felting: $98 class includes fibers and all materials for the first project.
Wet felting uses the application of warm, soapy water and agitation to make wool and other fibers into the fabric known as felt. Have fun, get messy, and create a Magical Watercolor Felted scarf.
Tapestry Weaving: $98 class with yarn purchase. Includes use of loom.
In Tapestry Weaving, the warp is completely hidden allowing for your spectacular image to be displayed. We will learn tapestry weaving techniques, including knotted tassels, soumak, pick and pick, hatching, and interlock. These techniques will help you to create unique tapestries. Experiment with color, texture, and fiber.
Beginning Spinning with Chris Switzer: $150 class includes materials.
This class is designed for the beginner spinner. Hands-on spinning. Bring a wheel or hand spindle that you’re familiar with. Hand carders are a must. Different alpaca fleeces will be used.
About the instructor: Chris has been raising alpacas in Estes Park, Colorado on the Switzer Land Farm for 40 years. She has contributed articles to a number of different trade publications and magazines. Chris started the Rocky Mountain Llama and Alpaca Association library and operated it for six years. She oversaw the Estes Park Wool Market’s educational workshops and was on the primary organizational committee for six years. Chris judges handspun yarns and finished items at a variety of events. She has a BFA in Weaving with double major in anthropology/archaeology from Colorado State University (1984). Chris teaches weaving and spinning workshops at many conferences and in yarn shops.
