|Recurring Classes and Events (See all)

An event every week that begins at 3:00 pm on Saturday, repeating until May 20, 2023

$98.00

In Navajo and Tapestry weaving, the warp is completely hidden allowing for your creative designs to be displayed. The word tapestry comes from the Old French tapisserie, meaning “to cover with heavy fabric, to carpet”.  Tapestries have been used since at least Hellenistic times.  Navajo textiles typically have strong geometric patterns.  In this class, we will learn tapestry weaving techniques, including knotted tassels, soumak, pick and pick, hatching, and interlock.   Experiment with color, texture, and fiber.  A variety of loom sizes are available for purchase.  Class is $98 with yarn purchase; includes use of loom.
