The Herringbone Lace Cowl is perfect as a stylish addition to your holiday wardrobe, or as a gift for someone special. Create this delicate and lacy accessory from Lambspun’s hand-dyed Pure Silk wound with Luna mohair yarn for a soft, silky texture.
The Herringbone Lace Cowl is knit in the round, and is quick and easy to create. A simple lace pattern, along with knit and purl stitches, results in an open structure that resembles the hexagonal tiling often seen in herringbone patterns. This beautiful cowl was designed specifically for Lambspun by Larissa Breloff.
Did you know? The herringbone pattern is so-named because of the arrangement of geometric shapes that somewhat resembles the bones of a fish. The original herringbone patterns were symmetrical arrangements of rectangles or parallelograms, often used for floor tiling or road pavement. These patterns are closely related to other hexagonal tiling — such as that seen in the Herringbone Lace Cowl.
