Description
Knit this beautiful fashion accessory to enhance your fall wardrobe. The Sweet Cowl is an easy project, knit in a cotton/bamboo yarn, with a luscious mohair yarn center stripe. Using yarn overs and knit 2 together stitches, you will create an airy, lacy design for your cowl. This pattern was designed specifically for Lambspun by Larissa Breloff.
Cotton/bamboo yarn combines the softness and drape of bamboo rayon, with the durability of cotton. Bamboo yarn is manufactured from bamboo grass that is harvested and distilled into cellulose, then spun into yarn. Bamboo brings a touch of luxury to fabrics made with another natural fiber, cotton. Did you know? The word “cowl” is derived from the Latin word cuculla, meaning “a hood”. It originally referred to the hooded portion of a cloak, particularly the cloaks worn by monks during the early Middle Ages in Northern Europe. More recently, the word has come to mean “a draped neckline on a woman’s garment”. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary also defines “cowl” as a chimney covering designed to improve the draft, and the top portion of the front part of an automobile body forward of the two front doors to which are attached the windshield and instrument board. Something to think about while you are wearing your beautiful Sweet Cowl!
