Did you know? The word “cowl” is derived from the Latin word cuculla, meaning “a hood”. It originally referred to the hooded portion of a cloak, particularly the cloaks worn by monks during the early Middle Ages in Northern Europe. More recently, the word has come to mean “a draped neckline on a woman’s garment”. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary also defines “cowl” as a chimney covering designed to improve the draft, and the top portion of the front part of an automobile body forward of the two front doors to which are attached the windshield and instrument board. Something to think about while you are wearing your beautiful new cowls!
